FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything people ask us before booking a fixed-price taxi from Oxford to Gatwick — fares, luggage, flight changes, and where we cover.
How much does a taxi from Oxford to Gatwick cost? +
£139 for the whole car, fixed, from Oxford city centre to either Gatwick terminal — agreed before you travel and unaffected by traffic, waiting time, or which terminal you're flying from. Towns further from Oxford carry a small, clearly stated distance surcharge; see our full price list for the exact fare to your address.
Is the price really fixed, even in bad traffic? +
Yes. The fare you're quoted covers your exact pickup address and terminal — it won't move if the M25 is crawling, if a diversion adds miles, or if the journey simply takes longer than expected. Only a different address or terminal changes a fixed quote.
What happens if my departure time changes? +
We're tracking your outbound flight number. If the airline brings your departure forward or pushes it back, we shift your Oxford pickup time to match, so you still reach the terminal in good time — at no extra charge.
Is the driver licensed and insured? +
Yes. Every driver holds a licensed private hire driver badge, and the vehicle is licensed and fully insured for hire and reward, in line with UK private hire regulations.
How much luggage can I bring? +
Our estate car takes up to 4 passengers with 2 large suitcases and hand luggage comfortably — more boot space than a standard saloon, at the same fixed fare. Flag any extra bags, golf clubs, or a car seat when you book, so the right vehicle turns up.
Do you charge more for early morning or late-night pickups? +
No. The fixed fare is the same whatever time your flight departs, early-morning starts and late-night departures included — worth knowing given how many Gatwick flights leave before 7am.
Can I change or cancel my booking? +
Yes. Date, time, or address can be amended free of charge, and cancellation is free up to 2 hours before pickup. Let us know as early as you can if your plans shift.
Do you provide child seats? +
Yes, on request at no extra charge — tell us the number and ages of children travelling when you book so the right seats are fitted in advance.
How do I pay? +
By card online when you book, or by card or cash directly with the driver. No card surcharge either way — the fixed fare is the fixed fare.
Do you offer accounts for business or college bookings? +
Yes. Oxford colleges, university departments, and local businesses can set up an account for regular Gatwick transfers, with invoiced billing instead of paying per trip.
Which Gatwick terminal will I need? +
It comes down to your airline, not which terminal sits closer to Oxford — check your booking confirmation or boarding pass. Our North Terminal and South Terminal guides list which airlines typically use each one.
How much is a taxi from Oxford to Gatwick? +
£139 fixed with us, for the whole car, from Oxford city centre to either Gatwick terminal. Other operators' published fares for the same route range from around £130 to over £200 depending on vehicle class.
Is the Gatwick drop-off charge included in the price? +
Yes. Gatwick charges vehicles a fee to drop off at the terminal forecourts, and that's already built into our £139 fixed price.
Does the price change for an early morning flight? +
No. Many Gatwick departures leave before 7am, and the fixed price is exactly the same whatever time your flight goes.
How long before a Gatwick flight should I leave Oxford? +
Around 3 to 3.5 hours total, covering a 100-135 minute drive plus the standard 2-3 hour airport arrival window most airlines recommend.
What time is the M25 worst near Gatwick? +
Roughly 7-9.30am and 4-7pm on weekdays. Outside those windows, and at weekends, the route is generally more predictable.
Does my pickup time change if my flight time changes? +
Yes, automatically. We track your outbound flight number and adjust your Oxford pickup to match any schedule change, at no extra charge.
Does rush hour make my Gatwick taxi more expensive? +
No. The fixed price is the same regardless of traffic conditions on the day — only the pickup time is adjusted to account for expected congestion.
Is the M40 usually congested near Oxford? +
Not usually. The M40 out of Oxfordshire runs relatively freely; delays on this route are almost always further along, on the M25.
How many miles is it from Oxford to Gatwick? +
Around 85 miles by road, depending on the exact route and your Oxford pickup point.
How long does it take to drive from Oxford to Gatwick? +
Typically 100 to 135 minutes in normal traffic, longer during the weekday M25 rush-hour peaks.
Is the M40 or the M4/A34 route faster to Gatwick from Oxford? +
It depends on live traffic on the day. Both routes cover similar overall time in normal conditions, and your driver checks current conditions before choosing.
Is there a direct train from Oxford to Gatwick? +
No. Rail journeys from Oxford to Gatwick involve at least one change, most commonly at Reading onto a direct Great Western Railway service to Gatwick Airport station.
How long does the train take from Oxford to Gatwick? +
Typically 2 to 2.5 hours door to door once you include the connection, platform change, and walk to the terminal.
Is there a direct coach from Oxford to Gatwick? +
Not a frequent nonstop service in the way Oxford has to Heathrow. Most coach journeys to Gatwick from Oxford involve a change, typically via a London coach station.
Is Uber cheaper than a taxi from Oxford to Gatwick? +
Sometimes, on a quiet day with no surge pricing — but the fare isn't guaranteed until you actually request the ride, unlike our fixed £139 price agreed in advance.
Can Uber guarantee a driver for a long trip like this? +
Not in the way a pre-booked service can. App-based rides depend on a driver being available and willing to take the fare at the moment you request it.
What's the minimum notice for booking a Gatwick taxi from Oxford? +
12 hours between booking and your requested pickup time, for every booking.
Should I book as soon as I book my flight? +
It's a good idea, especially for early-morning departures when demand for that slot is highest, though our 12-hour minimum is the only hard requirement.
How many terminals does Gatwick have? +
Two: North Terminal and South Terminal, connected by a free automated transit that takes around two minutes.
How do I know if I need North or South Terminal? +
Check your booking confirmation or boarding pass — airline terminal allocation at Gatwick has changed over time, so it's not safe to assume based on the airline alone.
What if I get dropped at the wrong Gatwick terminal? +
It's a short fix — the free inter-terminal transit connects North and South in around two minutes, so a wrong-terminal drop-off isn't a serious problem.
Is there an extra charge for a very early pickup? +
No. The fixed price is the same at any time of day or night.
Is traffic bad at 3am or 4am on the way to Gatwick? +
No, traffic is generally very light at that hour. The main planning consideration is leaving enough time for the airport's own check-in and security process once you arrive.
Do you collect from Oxford colleges without a street address? +
Yes — tell us which college and we'll confirm the exact pickup point, whether that's the porters' lodge or a specific accommodation block.
Can you take more luggage than the standard 2 suitcases at end of term? +
Often, yes — tell us in advance how much you're bringing and we'll confirm whether our estate car covers it or recommend a larger vehicle.
Do you collect from Oxford Brookes' Headington campus? +
Yes, along with any of Brookes' other campus sites and nearby student accommodation.
Can I set up an invoiced account for regular Gatwick bookings? +
Yes. Oxford businesses booking regular transfers can set up an account rather than paying per trip — contact us to arrange it.
How do I set up a corporate account? +
Contact us directly with your business details and expected volume of bookings, and we'll set up an invoiced account.
Can I bring golf clubs on an Oxford to Gatwick taxi? +
Usually yes, alongside standard luggage for a smaller group — tell us in advance so we can confirm it fits or arrange a larger vehicle if needed.
How much luggage does the estate car take? +
Up to 4 passengers with 2 large suitcases and hand luggage each as standard, with more boot space than a typical saloon.
How many people fit in one Gatwick taxi from Oxford? +
Up to 4 passengers with 2 large suitcases and hand luggage each in our standard estate car.
What if our group is bigger than 4? +
Tell us the numbers when you enquire and we'll arrange a larger vehicle or a second car, timed to travel together.
Can my pet fly with me to Gatwick in the taxi? +
The taxi itself can carry a pet in a secure carrier for a drop-off or collection en route (for example at a kennel), but this page isn't about pets travelling on the flight itself — check with your airline separately for that.
Do you provide child car seats? +
Yes, on request at no extra charge — tell us the ages of the children travelling and we'll fit the right seats.
Can a pushchair fit alongside our suitcases? +
Usually yes for a single folded pushchair with a standard family luggage load — tell us in advance if you're bringing a double pushchair or extra equipment so we can confirm the right vehicle.
Can you provide a wheelchair accessible vehicle to Gatwick? +
Yes — tell us the wheelchair type and passenger needs when you book so we can confirm the right vehicle, ideally with more notice than our standard 12-hour minimum.

Yes — pickups from the John Radcliffe, the Churchill, and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre are all covered, along with any other Headington address.

Is Cowley closer to Gatwick than central Oxford? +
A touch — sitting on Oxford's eastern edge near the M40 approach shaves a few minutes off the start of the run compared with the city centre.

Only marginally, since it sits a little further north before picking up the A34 south. The fixed fare from Summertown matches the £139 charged from central Oxford.

Yes — Summertown is a short drive from Oxford Parkway, and we collect from addresses around the station as well as across Summertown itself.
Do you collect from London Oxford Airport for an onward Gatwick connection? +

How far is Kidlington from central Oxford? +
About 5 miles north — close enough that the fixed fare to Gatwick stays at the same £139 charged from Oxford city centre.
Is Abingdon closer to Gatwick than Oxford? +
Slightly — sitting further south on the A34 gives Abingdon a marginally shorter run towards the M4/M25 interchange.
Do you cover the whole of Abingdon? +
Yes — pickups run from anywhere in Abingdon, town centre and surrounding estates alike.
Do you collect from Witney town centre for a Gatwick flight? +
Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Witney, including the market square and the surrounding villages.
Is there a train option from Witney to Gatwick instead? +
Witney lost its passenger railway station back in 1962, so any rail journey needs a bus or taxi connection to Oxford or Hanborough first, then a change in London. A door-to-door taxi sidesteps all of that.
Do you collect from Bicester Village? +
Yes — we collect from Bicester Village and anywhere else in town, including parties heading straight from a shopping trip to a Gatwick flight.
Is Bicester close to the M40? +
Yes — right by Junction 9, which keeps the run down towards the M25 and Gatwick straightforward.
Do you collect from Didcot Parkway station? +
Yes — we collect from Didcot Parkway and anywhere in the town around it.
Is Didcot one of the shorter routes to Gatwick from this area? +
Yes — Didcot links quickly onto the M4 towards the M25, making it one of the quicker starting points on our coverage map.
Do you collect from Wallingford town centre? +
Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Wallingford and the villages along the Thames nearby.
Is Wallingford closer to Gatwick than Oxford city centre? +
Yes, noticeably — sitting south-east of Oxford, closer to the M4 corridor, shortens the run to Gatwick compared with starting in the city centre.
Do you collect from Blenheim Palace? +
Yes — pickups run from Blenheim Palace itself as well as anywhere in Woodstock.
Why is Woodstock priced higher than central Oxford for the same airport? +
Woodstock sits north-west of the city, off the direct A34/M40 corridor, which adds to both distance and journey time — the fixed fare reflects that genuine difference rather than a flat zone charge.
Do you collect from Thame town centre? +
Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Thame and the surrounding villages.
Is Thame a shorter route to Gatwick than Oxford city centre? +
Yes — sitting south-east of Oxford, closer to the M40's line towards the M25, trims the overall journey slightly.

Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Carterton, including addresses close to RAF Brize Norton, for civilian journeys to Gatwick.
Is Carterton the furthest town you cover for Gatwick? +
It's among the furthest on our current list — the fixed fare accounts for the longer run east across Oxfordshire and down to the M25.
Do you collect from Wantage town centre? +
Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Wantage and the surrounding Vale of White Horse villages.
Is Wantage on a direct route to Gatwick? +
Yes — Wantage links onto the A34 south towards the M4, one of the two main road corridors this site uses to reach the M25 and Gatwick.
Do you collect from Chipping Norton town centre? +
Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Chipping Norton and the surrounding Cotswold villages.
Is Chipping Norton the most expensive town you cover for Gatwick? +
It's among the furthest, alongside Carterton, so the fixed fare sits towards the top of our range — but it's still agreed before you travel and holds firm on the day.
Do you collect from Faringdon town centre? +
Yes — pickups cover anywhere in Faringdon and the surrounding villages.
Is Faringdon closer to the M4 than central Oxford? +
Yes — sitting south-west of Oxford on the A420 gives Faringdon a slightly different run onto the A34 and M4 corridor towards Gatwick.
Is Banbury too far for a fixed-price taxi to Gatwick? +
No — the fixed fare simply reflects the greater distance. Banbury sits right on the M40, so the route south stays straightforward even though it's one of the furthest towns we cover.
Do you collect from Banbury railway station? +
Yes — we collect from Banbury station as well as anywhere else in town.
